Following on from the 2008 Carnival Mural on Southam Street, this time we took a good look around the Carnival streets.

We discovered that the preparations, whilst effective in reducing Carnival disruption to local residents, weren't exactly inviting or inspiring for the biggest street festival in Europe!

So, we got together with a local Tenants Organisation to make a major corner on the Official Carnival Route something to be proud of...
We held 20 Art Workshops with 2 local schools, with classes taking place at school and at the Brownbaby Art Studio in West London...
Then Brownbaby took part in a local school Carnival and a local Summer Festival to collect even more portraits from the local community - children, parents and teachers...
By the end of it all, we had stunning portraits from almost 400 people!!
We worked with local artists and members of Age Concern Kensington & Chelsea, night & day to create artwork that couldn't be missed!

...and since it would have been his birthday on Carnival Childrens Day (Sunday), we dedicated some of the corner to Michael Jackson!
